Feline Eyes: When My Paintings Come to Life

If there’s one subject that has accompanied me since the first days I picked up a paintbrush, it’s felines. Cats, lions, kittens, cheetahs, panthers — these majestic creatures seem to come from a dream, and I never stop painting them on canvas.

Paintings That Breathe. Every time I create hand-painted artworks on canvas, I don’t just depict animals; I aim to capture their essence. People who see my animal paintings on canvas often say:“It’s as if the cat is truly looking at me.”“This lion seems to be breathing!”

Perhaps it’s the way I apply acrylic painting techniques on canvas, the subtle shades, or the deep respect I have for these majestic beings. I primarily work with acrylic paint on canvas, but sometimes use oil on canvas to achieve greater depth and intensity. Every technical choice — from the brush (yes, I often use hog bristle brushes) to the glazing (velatura) — is designed to bring life to the gaze, fur, and presence.

Why felines? For me, felines represent:

  • Independence

  • Inner strength

  • Elegance

  • Intuition

Once, I painted a white cat on an icy blue background. The canvas had no frame, but it felt as if she was the queen of the space. Someone told me:“She is the queen of paintings.”

What my clients request. Many clients commission customized paintings on canvas featuring:

  • Pets (especially their cats)

  • Wild felines like panthers, cheetahs, and lions

Some dream of a panther mural for their living room, others commission a cheetah running through tall grass, or a portrait of their beloved house cat.

Each time, I create a unique story. Every hand-painted canvas is a one-of-a-kind modern fresco that speaks directly to the heart.

Techniques and materials I use

  • Acrylic and oil on canvas, often using mixed media techniques

  • Colors for indoor murals, if the feline “lives on the wall”

  • Acrylic to enhance the shine of the fur

  • Oil glazing over acrylic for richness

  • Murals with feline subjects for domestic interiors

Where my felines live

  • On hand-painted children’s paintings, featuring sweet kittens telling stories

  • On customized paintings for living rooms, bedrooms, and studios

  • As wall decorations — large lions or tigers emerging amid tropical leaves

  • On canvas sizes 50x60 or 50x70 cm, painted with acrylic

I don’t just paint images — I create presence.
