You Are My Muse: How a Custom Painting Comes to Life

When a client once wrote to me:"You are my muse," I paused.
Those words touched something deep. What does it mean today to be someone’s muse? And what happens when someone entrusts their memories, dreams, and emotions to a visual artist?
I’m Sovia — a visual artist and contemporary painter.
For years, I’ve been creating:
hand-painted canvas artworks
custom wall murals
modern frescoes for interiors
personalized paintings with animals, abstract, or symbolic subjects
But every time I paint a custom artwork, a new story is born. An emotional journey made of listening, intuition, and craft.
The beginning: listening to the soul
This client didn’t just send me an image. He told me everything:
about his loved one
the music they shared
the light of a winter morning
the palette that evoked their past
And he said:"I don’t want just a painting. I want a living emotion. You’re my muse, because you know how to turn that into art."
The process: painting, heart, and technique
I use acrylic on canvas, often mixed with oil for extra depth. I paint with boar-bristle brushes and carefully prepare each canvas before starting. Through acrylic techniques and soft glazing, I create unique transitions and textures.
Each artwork is:
shaped by the client’s vision
made with professional materials (acrylic paints, selected pigments, acrylic mirror for highlights)
a bridge between imagination and matter
When the painting comes alive
At the moment of delivery, the client looked in silence. Then he said: "You are my muse".
This is exactly it.
And I realized: a custom painting is not just decoration. It is living memory, a symbol, a silent companion on the wall.
